Artist's Comments

This is a project over a year in the making. Comments, advice, etc. are more than welcome. Started from a cell phone pic of my then girlfriend, now ex-wife. The pose, the lighting, everything were just perfect. Check out the original pic, you'll really be able to appreciate this art when you see how crappy the camera used for the original cell phone picture was.

So anyway, I don't normally revisit finished pieces but usually once a year I'll find a beautiful piece I've done in the beginning of the year & do it two or three times throughout the year. The idea is to use that piece as an assessment of my skills as they progress throughout the year. So this is the final piece. I've done it twice before. The second one is in my portfolio out in my parent's garage in California. Luckily, I do have one photo of the very original sketch I did from this picture, which sucked of course but given how much my skills have improved over the last year I'm not too concerned about it [link]

Oh crap, I forgot to link to the original crappy cell phone picture. How can anyone really appreciate this painting if you can't see the original crummy photo I used as the reference.

He stands before the window
His shadow slowly fading from the wall
And from an ivory tower hears her call
"Let the light surround you"

Thank you much! Oh, you need to link me to some of your photos, woman! That way I've got some more stuff to paint!
:iconhazonku:
Thank you very much. I think it's coming along great considering how terrible the quality was in the reference photo. I've so gotta get a phone with a decent camera!
:iconvelcrowmistress:
Okie, I'll myspace you some links :)
:iconkasumisman:
wow vey nice detail on the hair
:iconhazonku:
Thank! Yeah I thought it'd be all easy, just use some brushes I got of DA, no big deal right? WRONG! LOL, took forever to get the hair the way I wanted it. Glad you mentioned that part specifically.
:iconkasumisman:
wow that is beyond amazing
